Macau in China is known as the Las Vegas of the Far East. There are some differences between Las Vegas and Macau, for example, in Macau, the most popular casino game is baccarat, and the favorite drink is green tea.
Slot machines are less popular in Chinese casinos than in American casinos. Macau revenue from slots was only about 2 percent of its total gaming revenue in 2004, while Las Vegas revenue from slots is estimated as 45 percent of the gross revenue.
According to the 2005 Macau Mania report made by the investment bank CLSA, the Chinese believe in luck drives many Chinese gamblers to spend big portion of their income on gambling. The report describes Macau casinos as more intense than Las Vegas casinos.
