La Posta Indian reservation in San Diego country has started construction of its own casino. It will be a very small casino, but for the tiny La Posta band construction of the casino is a really important step.
The project will cost 15 million dollars. The casino will include 349 slot machines and will less than half the size of the nearest Golden Acorn Casino, located 1.5 miles to the south, closer to the freeway. However, the leaders of La Posta believe that their casino will be competitive. James Hill, La Posta business manager even believes that constructing a second casino in the area will help both tribes, making the region more attractive for visitors.
Another San Diego casino to include 349 slot machines is now under construction in Santa Ysabel reservation, North County. With these two casinos San Diego country will have ten Indian casinos. 349 is the maximum number of slot machines that, according to Californian Indian Gaming Pact, a tribe can operate being qualified as a non-gaming tribe and receive revenue-sharing funds from large Indian casinos.
La Posta and Santa Ysabel casinos are financed in association with Yavapai-Apache Nation from Arizona that operates two casinos south of Flagstaff. Jamie Fullmer, the chairman of Yavapai-Apache Nation participated in the opening ceremony of La Posta casino construction along with the head of UIC, Alaskan Inuit Construction Company that will serve as main the main constructor of the project.
