The Aim of Online Blackjack

The aim of the player or players in online blackjack is to reach a card count of 21, or as close to 21 as possible, without exceeding that number.  To achieve this, the player and the dealer are dealt two initial cards.  The dealer always turns up one card.  The player then tries to get a “blackjack” – an ace plus a card with a ten point value.  If the player is lucky enough to get a blackjack with his two first cards, he “stands” meaning he does not draw any more cards.  Otherwise, he may draw up to nine cards as long as he doesn’t exceed 21.  The dealer must “stand” with a value of 17.  A hand exceeding 21 is called a “bust” and the player loses.  If the player and dealer tie, the hand is called a “push” and the player’s bet is returned to him.
